Dallas is home to thousands of restaurants including numerous hidden gems. If you would like to enjoy a meal off-the-beaten-path, visit one of these eateries where you’re sure to find a dining experience to remember:
Off the Bone Barbecue
At Off the Bone, Chef Dwight Harvey serves his award-winning barbecue six days a week. The restaurant’s motto is “It’s as Good as it Looks,” and it looks delicious. The meat falls off the bone! Guests enjoy their meals in the casual dining room featuring picture windows and televisions broadcasting Texas’ sports teams. Offerings include beef brisket, smoked chicken, and southern baby back ribs. They pair well with the sides made from the Harvey family’s time-honored recipes.
Uncle Uber’s Sammich Shop
Bryan and Kathy have worked in the restaurant industry for over twenty years. They opened Uncle Uber’s Sammich Shop in 2011 to offer sandwiches that are fresh and flavorful. The couple shaves the meats and hand-cuts the fries, and they also make all the sauces from scratch. Uncle Uber’s is found in Deep Ellum, and it operates like an old-school deli. Sandwiches include slow-roasted pork, blackened fish tacos, and bacon & goat cheese. Don’t miss the homemade cookies for dessert.
At Our Place, the dishes feature flavors as varied as the climate of India. Each of the country’s regions has its own unique recipes, and the meals are made using a special blend of herbs and spices. The service is friendly, and the vibrant atmosphere features brightly colored walls. Offerings include rava chicken dosa, chana masala, and tandoori paneer tikka.
