A local fixture since the late 19th century, the Dallas Farmers Market began as a modest horse-and-wagon wholesale business. Now home to dozens of vendors, the market has become a hub for dairy products, farm-fresh produce, and much more. If you would like to do some shopping, the market offers online ordering for curbside pickup on Sundays between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The Dallas Farmers Market is an easy drive from our Dallas high-rise apartments, and participating vendors include:
Bois d’Arc Meat Company
The Bois d’Arc Meat Company is the latest from a farm that has been family-owned and operated for 150 years. The chicken, cattle, and heritage pigs graze on pasture. They’re 100 percent non-GMO, and the farm only sells to customers in North Texas to reduce its carbon footprint. Items available for pickup include jalapeno cheese bratwurst, Italian sausage, and ground beef.
What began as a small garden has grown to become a forty-acre farm south of Dallas. Bonton strives to grow tasty produce while inspiring everyone to live healthier lives. The farm also raises free-range chickens and turkeys, and it offers cooking classes highlighting the season’s bounty. The varied selection includes eggs, biquinho peppers, and butternut squash.
D-Bar Farm and Ranch
D-Bar is a favorite among Dallas-area chefs for its locally-grown produce. Keith is a third-generation farmer who has been growing in North Texas for nearly forty years. He works alongside his wife and kids and grows using time-honored farming methods. D-Bar is currently offering bok choy for pickup.
