Every fall, the city of Dallas hosts an exciting event that dates back to 1886.
We’re talking about the State Fair of Texas, and it takes place September 28th through October 21st.
At twenty-four consecutive days, it’s the longest-running fair in the United States, as well as one of the largest.
The fun takes place at historic Fair Park, and the fair’s mission is to promote agriculture, education, and community through quality entertainment.
Creative Arts Building
The Creative Arts Building highlights the state’s arts, crafts, and culinary creations. It’s where visitors can watch cooking competitions, learn cooking tips in the Celebrity Kitchen, and see this year’s winners in the Creative Arts contests.
All-Star Dog Stunt Show
Don’t miss watching the stunt show dogs as they jump rope, juggle, and barrel roll. They entertain audiences throughout the country and have appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Texas is known for its great wine, and the Wine Garden is a great place to sample the different varieties. Three wineries will be on hand each day, and their representatives will be onsite to answer questions and serve drinks.
If you enjoy fair staples such as corn dogs, funnel cakes, and cotton candy, don’t miss Thrifty Thursdays. Participating vendors will offer discounts as well as a signature menu item.
Several stages are found throughout the grounds, and they host artists of all genres. One of the highlights will be the U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps. They’re from Washington D.C. and will offer daily concerts as well as perform in the nightly Starlight Parade from September 28th through October 8th.
