Take a Walk on the Wild Side at the Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo, located within minutes of our Dallas high rise apartments, is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas. Welcoming visitors through its gates since 1888, the zoo houses more than 2,000 animals across 106 acres.

Some of the zoo’s most popular exhibits include:

Cheetah Encounter

Home to Winspear and his Labrador retriever best friend, the Cheetah Encounter is one of the zoo’s most popular exhibits. It shares fascinating facts about cheetahs and showcases their speed and maneuverability. During the 15-minute presentation, visitors also learn about other animals, such as the African guineafowl and a trumpeter hornbill.

Lemur Lookout

When Lemur Lookout opened in 1996, it became one of the first exhibits in the world to house multiple species of Madagascar primates. The lemurs swing from branch to branch, and may even be spotted taking a ride on an Aldabra tortoise. Visitors can watch the action from the shaded tree-level canopy.

Giraffe Feeding

Don’t miss your chance to feed the giraffes at the Diane and Hal Brierley Giraffe Bridge. The up-close encounter gives visitors the opportunity to stand on a platform and feed these magnificent animals at eye level.

Wilds of Africa Adventure Safari Monorail

Aboard the monorail, passengers enjoy a bird’s-eye view of five African habitats not accessible by foot. The train moves slowly along a one-mile loop while interpretive specialists describe the animals, their habitats, and conservation efforts. During the safari, you’ll see dozens of species including the red river hogs, and ride through a rushing waterfall.

The zoo is just one of the premier attractions near our apartments in downtown Dallas. If you are searching for a vibrant place to call home, contact us. Our leasing agents will gladly arrange a private tour where you can see firsthand all our community has to offer.
